~ A new addition arrived in the mail (thanks, Steph!). I thought she was a boy and we should call her Oliver. Much arguing and persuading and tears (yes, there were tears) that no! she is a girl!! And ribbons tied round her trunk. All persuaded me that perhaps she is a girl. We named her Eva, which was to be Gray’s name if he was a girl. Eva the elephant. She resides on my sewing desk. Yes, she’s mine. The kids have co-opted all the other animals. But Audrey has made sure she’s fed plenty of food and water and tucked into her box at night with a blanket. So starts the slippery slope of losing my one stuffed animal…
~ I cut my hair myself. Which was a bit gutsy considering I have a wedding to attend on Saturday. But it didn’t turn out half bad (you can relax, Mom) and a sight better than some hair cuts I’ve paid money for.
~ I’ll be wearing a dress and heels for the first time in years. I’ve worn a dress and I’ve worn heels. But both together? That’s been a long while. Audrey is very excited that I’m dressing up with her. We even have plans to paint our toes.
~ Sprouts and beet kavass. For years now every spring I crave raw beets and sprouts. It passes in a month or two. But I indulge it while it lasts.
~ Audrey has been enjoying putting Borage flowers in her berries and yogurt. Pretty.
~ I got my first ripe strawberry from the garden. The kids had evidently been eating them for a few days before I learned of it. Audrey told me, “You have to break the strawberries into little pieces for Gray otherwise he gets messy.” So that’s why there was no evidence…
~ We got into the hammock and out of the hammock more times than I can count.
~ I organized my scrap basket. The fabric mess was driving me crazy after KCWC. Much better. I might actually be inspired to use them for something now.
~ I’m trying to take some time to just sit and breathe. We have a busy few weeks ahead of us but I don’t want everything to pass us by without noticing and enjoying.
~ Have a beautiful end to your week. And a Happy Mother’s Day!

Aren’t Steph’s elephants adorable! I have to admit that I am coveting some of your scraps…I see some real beauties in there. Oh and the strawberries! I did get such a wonderful giggle from that…I’d say sneaky, but I don’t know that they were trying to be sneaky, just enjoying some strawberries and who can blame them? Thank you so much for your sweet note. It so warmed my heart and helped me get over that hump. Have a lovely mother’s day!
No, I don’t think they were being sneaky either. I really don’t think it entered their minds that I’d want some too :) But it cracked me up, how they had a little system already.
Eva looks very very happy! so glad she survived her airplane journey; she was rather nervous about the whole thing.
How very busy–and organized. Another inspiring post to get me to organize my fabric. (Mine is stuffed –and I do mean STUFFED–in an old piesafe; can’t find a thing!)
Audrey’s such a little mamma! so very cute!
Hugs to everyone on such a special Mother’s Day weekend!
Yep, that’s basically what my scrap basket looked like before. And Eva tells me she’s very happy in her new home. She sends much love.
my that is one cute elephant! your strawberry blurb had me giggling, those sneaky little strawberry thieves :) have a fabulous, relaxing mama’s day too!
Kids…I’ll be lucky to get a handful of berries to myself all season. And we have a ton of strawberry plants.
what’s that yummy looking asparagus/olive/nut salad?
Lentil sprouts with sheep’s milk feta, asparagus, olives, green garlic and a olive oil, wine vinegar, mustard dressing. Basically like a cold french lentil salad but with sprouts instead of cooked lentils. My favorite lunch right now.
Looks like a great week. Been awhile since I have made beet kavass, now I am craving it :)
Love your kids and the strawberries, my little man is the same once the raspberries come in.
And that elephant, adorable.
Have a lovely weekend.
Oh, I don’t even try and get any raspberries or blueberries. They’re only a few years old so they don’t produce very many and Audrey stays on top of them no problem.
This post makes me smile.
Enjoy your weekend, and rock that dress and heels.
I plan on it!
Eva is adorable, I hope you get to keep her. As for the strawberries, I’ve managed to try only one. My little one eats them so quick it’s down right amazing! Wishing you a beautiful mothers day!
P.S.- We live in Sonoma County, which would explain our similar weeds :)
Wow! So we’re practically neighbors!! That’s fun. Although Sonoma County is large. But still, at the most only an hour or so away. Small world.
Happy Mother’s Day to you, Amber! We went to a wedding on Saturday, also… my cousin! Didn’t see you there, so I guess we aren’t related after all!?! ;) Hope you had a fun weekend! Looks like Eva found a wonderful new home. XX
Hmmm. Still not convinced we’re unrelated;) We did have a wonderful time. Truly a beautiful and heartfelt wedding.
