“Where do our preoccupations lie as women?…I hold the questions of a women’s life in my bones. Quiet days. Days sitting by the fire. Days walking, sleeping, and dreaming. I see myself slowing down…I allow myself to struggle with the obligations of a public life and the spiritual necessity for a private one.

Am I an activist or an artist?
Do I stay home or do I speak out?…

It just may be that the most radical act we can commit is to stay home. Otherwise, who will be there to chart the changes? Who will be able to tell us if the long-billed curlews have returned to the grassy vales of Promontory, Utah?…

Where are our preoccupations as women?…

Women, health, and the environment…We can create beauty through the dailiness of our lives, standing our ground in the places we love…

It will not be simple.
It will not be fast.
It will be a slow, steady river that braids our communities together.

Home.”
